SVML was formed in Leicester in 1973. The voluntary committee has been working hard behind the scenes to continue to bring the community together. It has been 30 years since it was formed and we have managed to host a number of events which have been successful. Over the last year, the voluntary committee has changed and we now have a new young group of dedicated individuals who are taking their personal time out to expand our committee awareness. We wish to provide quality events for all members to enjoy.

Shree Vishwakarma Dada's History

Shree Vishwakama Dada is the presiding deity of all craftsmen and architects. He is the Son of Brahma and is known as the designer of flying chariots, weapons and palaces of Gods.
Vishwakarma's Architectural Wonders

Hindu mythology is full of Vishwakarma's many architectural wonders. Through the four 'yugas', he had built several towns and palaces for the gods. In "Satya yuga", he built the Swarg Loke, or known as heaven, the home of the Gods and demigods where Lord Indra rules. Vishwakarma then built the 'Sone ki Lanka' in "Treta yuga", the city of Dwarka in "Dwapar yuga", and Hastinapur and Indraprastha in the "Kali yuga".

He is described in the Mahabharata as “The lord of arts, leader of a thousand handicrafts; the carpenter of the God; the most eminent of artists, the fashioner of all ornaments and a great immortal God.”
